- Large Text File Viewer 4.1 is now available!
- Several bugs in version 4.0 have been fixed. Again, many thanks to the prompt bug reports from the LTFViewer users. Two major bugs are:
- Text search might fall into an infinite loop for some particular files (depending on the file content).
- Double-clicking at the end of a line causes the text to be scrolled outside the view.
- The speed of text searching using regular expression has been significantly improved.
- Version 4.1 gives the user more control over the display, which includes:
- Font, font style, and
font size.
- Colors of text, selected text, and
URL.
- Background color and background
image. (The user may use any JPG or BMP file as the background image. LTFViewer 4.1 uses a
sophisticated algorithm to soften the image and then blend the softened image with the background color perfectly.)
- Tab size.
- Automatic URL
detection.

- Large Text File Viewer 4.0 is now available!
- The high-speed text search capability has been greatly
enhanced with added search options and support of regular expression.
- Recognition of URL addresses (namely HTTP, FTP and
email addresses) becomes much more accurate due to the use of regular
expression.
- Based
on some users’ request, a “Go” button has been added to allow the
user to jump to a specific line instantly.

- New updates have been made to Large Text File Viewer:
- Large Text File Viewer 3.0u (i.e. the Unicode version)
has the following bug: when it opens a large Unicode text file, it reads
only the first 16K characters. This bug has been fixed. Again many thanks
to the LTFViewer users who kindly sent me the bug report.
- Upon the request from many users, a switch has been
added for hiding the background image. There should be an INI file in
the directory where the executable file is. To suppress the background
image, simply open the INI file using Notepad and change the line "ShowBkImage=1"
to "ShowBkImage=0". Of course you have to restart the program.

- Large Text File Viewer 3.0 is now available!
- It supports mouse wheel.
- It recognizes URL addresses (namely HTTP, FTP and email
addresses).
- It remembers filename extensions, and the fonts and the
text colors that were used to display these file types previously.
- It remembers recently opened files.
- It remembers the window position/size of the previous
run.
- New updates have been made to Stereogram Maker.
- It remembers the program settings of the previous run.
- It remembers recently opened files.
- It remembers the window position/size of the previous
run.

- Two bugs have been fixed in Large Text File Viewer 2.0. Many thanks
to the LTFViewer users who kindly sent me the bug report.
- The first bug is that LTFViewer 2.0 crashes on
startup. This bug is more subtle than it seems. It has
something to do with certain Windows patches from Microsoft. One of the
Windows patches (I don't know which one) changes the order of the window
messages generated during startup of a dialog box. More
specifically, without certain Windows patches, WM_ACTIVATE is somehow
generated before WM_INITDIALOG so that LTFViewer 2.0 doesn't get the
chance to initialize certain resource before accessing it. (The
computers at my home and my work place are always updated with latest
Windows patches. Therefore I had a hard time to duplicate the
crash.)
- The second bug is less obvious. The problem
happens when LTFViewer 2.0 is doing text
search. The search result is highlighted incorrectly if the
"Please wait" dialog box appears during the search. This
bug has been fixed.
- New updates have been made to Image Filter Tester.
- More operators are added to the morphological filter.

- The Halloween 2004 pumpkin carving family contest was held successfully on
10/31/2004. The winners were acknowledged by the trick-or-treating
children, and awarded by Jie's wonderfully cooked Halloween dinner. Click

- New updates have been made to Image Filter Tester.
- The image down-size filter is replaced by a new image
resample filter. This new high-quality resampling filter is implemented
based on Paul Heckbert's zoom program.
- Histogram equalization is added into the contrast
enhancement filter.
- Large Text File Viewer 2.0 is now available!
- It opens both ASCII and Unicode text files.
- Background file indexing makes browsing even faster.
- It has much better user interface.
- I found a bug in the Windows API function that have fallen through cracks
of many generations of Windows. Click here
for details.
- It is a function plotting software that plots any user-typed
1-D and 2-D functions. The generated plots are fully-interactive and
document-ready.
- It also calculates symbolically the derivative
(or partial derivative) of the user-typed function (if it's differentiable).
- It is also a great calculator that immediately gives the result of
any user-typed constant function.
- It is an image processing software that applies any
number of layers of user-defined filters to an image and immediately shows
the result.
- It implements a set of user-customizable filters that
cover almost the entire scope of image filtering.
- It provides a platform for engineers to design and
test their own image filters without writing single line of code. It is a great
tool that any engineer in image processing field should have.
- It is a software for creating stereograms from two types
of 3D data:
AutoCAD DXF files, or range pictures in JPEG or Windows Bitmap format.
- For 3D data in DXF format, you may manipulate (e.g. rotate, move or zoom)
the 3D objects, and create a stereogram with the 3D objects in the particular position that you see on your screen.
- For 3D data in range picture format, you may apply any linear or nonlinear
function to map pixel values to actual distances.
- Besides the (color or grayscale) random-dot coding patterns
provided by the software, the user may also use any JPEG or
Windows Bitmap image as coding pattern.
- This program was designed for viewing large (>1GB) text files.
- It uses little memory and is able to open a gigabyte file instantly.
- It allows the user to perform high-speed complex text
search by means of plain text or regular expression.
- It opens both ASCII and Unicode
text files.
